The Airspace Solutions marketing team recently caught up with Scott Mackenzie, Commercial Director at Horizon Leisure, following the exciting launch of their brand-new AirXtreme inflatable at Havant Leisure Centre.
The impressive four-court inflatable was installed as both a new income stream and a way to create meaningful community benefits. Scott explained:
Whilst this project was an income opportunity, it also has a huge community benefit, which is one of the main aims of Horizon Leisure. We’ve already had large queues of people using the inflatable, many of whom haven’t visited a leisure centre before.

From the initial business case to board approval, order placement, and launch, the project moved remarkably quickly. The focus was always clear—big investment and maximum fun.
AirXtreme, measuring 24 x 15 metres, is packed with exciting features, including the Volcano Slide, Beat the Wall, Obstacle Course, Reaction Walls, Wipeout Balls, Biff Bash Area, and Parkour Zone. Scott shared how these choices were made:
I’ve got children myself, so I took them to various inflatable parks to experience it for themselves. Children are brutally honest about what they enjoy, and that feedback—combined with research from Michael, our Children’s Activities Manager—was invaluable when working with John from Airspace Solutions to co-design the best inflatable for us that would be purpose built to maximise the four-court space available.
To further enhance the offer, Horizon Leisure also invested in a standalone toddler zone. This upgrade replaced an old-style bouncy castle and has been a revelation for younger visitors, providing stimulating play that parents love.
Scott praised the support provided during installation and training:
It was just brilliant. John and the Airspace Solutions team guided us every step of the way, provided excellent training, and supported us with operational challenges.
Staff engagement was also a key part of the rollout. Horizon Leisure introduced electronic pallet trucks to make setup and takedown easier, recruited dedicated event staff, and ensured employees were involved from the start.
A mix of digital promotion—via a dedicated webpage, social media campaigns, email newsletters, and app push notifications—has helped drive strong bookings since the soft launch.
We’ve seen numbers surpass our expectations. The feedback from both long-term customers and new ones attracted by AirXtreme has been fantastic. We’re aiming to generate in excess of £2,000 per week through a mix of pay-as-you-go sessions and parties.
With its bold design, community impact, and early success, the AirXtreme at Havant Leisure Centre is already proving to be a winning addition.
